Alan,
The what you describe, besides wrong addresses, speed, etc, reminds me of
something else. I have built a couple of CI-V interfaces myself and I have
learned, they are very sensitive to quality of every particular IC, is it
MAX232 or similar. At least when the interfaces were using just a single
MAX232, their attitude was exactly as you describe. Some of the homebuilt
single-IC interfaces simply did not work at all. Adding some in- and out-
buffers made the interface fully operational.
To my surprise Icom is using a single IC in their iterface. In fact, it does
work (currently am using the "indistrial" CT-17 myself, not homemade
anymore), but I was always affraid, something might happen to an
unprotected
IC. That's why I am affraid, in your case the IC itsellf might become
faulty...
Do you have any chance to borrow a similar CT-17 from somebody else, just
to
make sure, the problem does not lay within the interface itself?
