[ICOM] IC-901A problems.

Howdy,
I really NEED some ideas on this one. Anyone got an IC-901A working
X-band repeat?
On our recent camping trip to Abilene State Park - we were JUST OUT
of HT range to a UHF link system. I wanted to set the IC-901A in the van
for X-band repeater so the group camping with us could work the system with
an HT. IT WOULD NOT WORK. With severe T-storms and even tornadoes in the
area, I really wanted to hit the repeater from the tent without going out to
the van.
I had no problem making the IC-901A work X-band repeat. Everything
appears fine. The LOCK indicator blinks. The TX/RX switches just fine,
power output works. Receiver S-meter works. There is audio in the IC-901A
speaker. But nothing comes through the IC-901A. The PL-tones do not pass
to open up PL repeaters. No voice comes through when trying to work non-PL
repeaters. No repeated audio comes through when receiving.
I have read the mod on MODS.DK. It says move the switch. If I move the
switch where the control head cable plugs in, the radio does not work after
that. I am still missing something here. I do not see another switch.
SOMEONE - ANYONE - who has X-band repeat working on an IC-901A, tell
me what I am missing here. PLEASE..... I really want to get this working.
I have ALL the modules - this is a fine radio. Just this one little
problem.
Thanks.
