[ICOM] Help needed with noise on HF in the mobile

I have experienced the exact same thing with a 706MKIIG installation in
a 2001 Toyota Tacoma.  The DSP has no effect on it.  The noise 'sounds'
like engine noise but does not vary with RPM.  It is a steady S7-9.  I
have done everything humanly possible to isolate and reduce this noise
with absoultely no success.  I am firmly convinced, having spoken with
others with this problem, that it is more the fault of the radio than
the vehicle.  The thing is just too damn sensitive.  In trying to cover
everything from DC to light, it has sacrificed sensitivity for
selectivity.  The radio is a great base station but falls far short of
being the ideal mobile rig, in my opinion.  Having said all of this
however, I have also spoken with many 706MKIIG owners who have not had
this experience.  So, my guess is it's radio dependant.  Just my 2 cents
worth.

By the way, if you do manage to find and correct this annoyance, please
let me know.  PLEEEEEEASE !!!!!
