I suspect some are turned away by the higher cost of  non-USPS 
shipping to other than the "lower 48" and the perceived need to do 
special packaging.   USPS priority mail, on the other hand, is 
economical, prompt, and, in many cases, a flat rate irregardless of 
weight or distance.

As far as our local neighbors, Mexico and Canada,  it may be customs 
procedures and requirements that are the concern.

Shipping that I do is [nearly] always by USPS insured priority mail 
and the costs are always included in the price of the item.
