Hey Bob,
It seems unanimous from others on the reflector that the Power Supply just
might be the problem. If you like I can bring by my EXTRA PS-125 power
supply for testing. Maybe you'll even need to buy it - hi hi.

Subject: [ICOM] 756 Pro III Problem
Evening Gents:
I thought that before I boxed up my rig and sent it back to Icom, I'd look
to the
collective wisdom of this group for some help. I've had my Pro III since
March of2005. The output varies from a high of 90 watts on 160 meters to a
low of 68 watts
on 10 meters. Is this normal?
Lately, I have been experiencing a problem (only noticeable on CW) where
when I have
the RF output full CCW, (maximum power) that more than not, I hear a hum on
the sidetone
and the power drops to anywhere from 8 to 11 watts output. Also, sometimes
it does
that for a moment and then just turns off and I have to wait ten seconds
till the
rig comes on again.
Now, I've checked the usual suspects, tight grounds, lose coax fittings etc
and everything
checks out. I suspect the high SWR protection circuit is not working
correctly.
The only challenge is that this often happens when I have a flat SWR of 1 to
1.
Any help appreciated and hopefully, I sufficiently articulated the problem.
Thanks
in advance for the help.
73, Bob K3UL
