[ICOM] IC746 Lack of Output

Hello,

My IC746, S/N 02729, does not put out power when fed with an AFSK
signal, pin 4 ACC1. However, power is obtained by turning the RF PWR
down until the knob mark is at 8:00. Once power output is seen on
the display, the RF PWR can be turned up to full
output. Unfortunately, once the audio signal is recycled, e.g., plug
is removed from the audio output jack on the sound card, no
output. Repeat the turning down the RF PWR and power output returns,
but still has the same limitation of not being able to key the radio
and still have output other than at the low output level and then
turn up the power. CW works okay at any RF PWR setting. What's
strange is this set-up worked before Field Day when the radio was
disconnected and used in the field. The connections/cables +

have been checked out. Another IC746 operates okay in a SO2R
arrangement. Both are controlled by a single computer running
Windows XP SP2, and Writelog with MMTTY. Separate sound cards are
used. A Creative Sound Blaster 16 is used for the IC746 with the
output problem.

         73,
         Mike, K4GMH
