[ICOM] ICOM 706 MK2G

Maybe someone has some thoughts on the following:

I have an  ICOM  706 MK2G for a number of years---About a year ago the 
following  problem developed:

When in SSB on every band---all of the sudden the  transmit power almost 
falls to zero---this is confirmed by the amount of current  being down on the 
Astron supply.(I did change supplies--same  problem)
Un key the mike and things are back to normal for  awhile---then the problem 
reappears...It's getting to the point now that when I  key and mike and 
speak--xmit power is down to a few watts---play around and  recheck power settings 
etc---it comes back.

Since then I  moved---different antenna and even with low SWR problem 
reappears  ;-(

HOWEVER: when I xmit into a dummy load---NO problem?????

I do  not have the radio,external automatic tuner, going to an earth 
ground---BUT I  operated the radio for more than a year without an earth ground and it 
worked  perfectly. I have tried running the rig through a manual tuner---same 
 problem.

Any thoughts?  If anyone believes the rig needs  repair--please recommend 
someone who is good with reasonable prices---rig is  several years out of 
warranty ;-(
