[ICOM] IC2KL Bias supply

Hi Dave,
Is your Brand 'X' a Yaesu Quadra perchance? I have one in my station; it is
over 7 years old, on its 4th Icom exciter, and has never missed a beat. It
replaced a 10-year-old 2KL/AT-500 pair which had also given flawless
service.
Cheers for now, 73,

Adam;
Thank you for the information. I have encountered the "Birdie" problems
before on my IC2KL. Tightening screws helped most of all in reducing the
problem to a couple of frequencies on the 10 meter band.
With regard to the PA transistor substitutes I have not yet encountered
failures in the finals in any of the 'KLs I have repaired. I feel certain
that the day will come.
I have seen 2 solid state amplifiers in which I have confidence; the IC2KL
and a brand "X" (this being an Icom list (:-)). I have not yet had the
opportunity to work on a PW-1.
Incidentally, I obtained mine in a "horse trade" from a merchant marine
captain who had purchased it in Japan. It is one of the earliest versions
and, with 2 repairs to the bias supply, still performing in contests and DX
chasing.
