[ICOM] More info needed.

Hi Mike,
I had my IC910H for several years and use it exclusively for 'voice mode'
satellite operations. For that purpose it is an excellent transceiver. I
have the UT-106 DSP units (very useful), the UX-910 1200 Mhz unit, the CT-17
level converter (allows the satellite tracking program to compensate for
doppler shift) and both mast mounted pre-amps (AG-25, AG-35).
For the kind of operations I do, the high-stability oscillator really
isn't required. I use the hand mike to keep the operating desk clear, I have
a full HF station as well.
Paul's comment about selectivity is a surprise to me, I've never heard of
this problem with the IC910 before. His description sounds more like front
end overload, but I've never heard of that with this radio either. I wonder
if there are any contesters on the group that have tried this radio in a
serious VHF/UHF contest effort. If there's a problem with the radio, I
assume it would show up in that environment.
Enjoy the new radio.

Started the overtime jobs at work. I will have enough overtime $$$$ saved
in about a month for a fully-loaded ICOM IC-910. So now is the time to seek
opinions on the accessories. All opinions welcome.
Is the high-stability oscillator needed?
Desirable?
Has anyone noticed a difference with and without?
How is the stability of the 1200 MHz module with and without?
How about the UT-106 DSP units?
One - or two?
Knowing my usual operating modes, this radio will mostly be used for local
FM repeaters, but will see some satellite use. It will have the 1200 MHz
unit installed for satellite uplink, but it MAY see some use on SSB for
terrestrial operations too. I will be using the SM-8 Mic currently tied to
my IC-820.
Thanks for your input.
