An mfj-1025, or Doug Demaw's (SK) "QRM squasher" will clean that problem
up in a jiffy. I used a 1025 in the rx loop of my 765, with a small
vertical outside
for a noise reference, and it worked wonders until the power co came
out and replaced
an insulator.

The added advantage is that the mfj unit can be keyed to break the rx
in line when
transmitting. In 7 years I never had any overload trouble with the
765 when using
separate rx/tx antennas. Can't speak for other models. But I am in
the process
of adding an rx loop to my 746 for the same type hookup.

FYI,
Rich
