[ICOM] IC-25A/H receive problem

I have just received several "parts only" IC-25
transceivers.  Two had the amplifier decks separated
from the main body; one was intact.  In attempting
to check out the latter, I was able to get close to
specified transmitter output and good modulation.

However, the receiver is quite deaf  --  it takes
about 50 uV for 20 dB quieting.

Volume and squelch controls are a bit scratchy, but
I think the rig is worth an attempt to resurrect it.

I have downloaded owner and service manuals from Icom
and I will print out the service manual on Monday, but
wonder if anybody has any immediate suggestion(s) for
a logical starting point.

If I can't get the receiver running, I guess I could
use the transmitter for APRS!
