IC-706. It is just SO VERSATILE!

I have mine next to the bed. Well - sorta. I got a piece of T-stock
aluminum. I mounted the T to a 1x4x8 inch piece of finished wood. I
mounted the control head to that. The speaker sits on the head-board. The
control head sits on the night stand. The mic hangs on the side of the mic
stand. EVERYTHING ELSE is UNDER the night stand. Power supply, main radio
chassis, cables, etc. All hidden.

I use a 32 ft fiberglass vertical on the roof with an IC-AH3 tuner at the
base. It works all bands, and does well.

Best of all, add a generator or battery and take that whole configuration
portable for field day or whatever.

JMHO - YMMV.
