[ICOM] Problem with IC-2720

I had a similar experience though mine never blew a fuse. It just got real

weak on transmit. Mine was a few years old at the time. Icom fixed it at
no charge. The problem was with the transmit driver transistor. They told
me that the cure was letting the solder free flow from the legs of the
transistor to the heat sink tabs that protrude through the top of the
circuit board. Apparently if this is not done thoroughly the transistor
will overheat and it's life will be shortened. I fixed one myself at a
later date. After replacing the driver transistor I fashioned a homemade
heatsink from the side of the chassis to the top of the driver transistor
to assist in drawing heat off of it. That was several months ago and it is

still working fine. If yours blew an output device it may not be covered
under this unofficial extended warranty. Blowing a 20 fuse sounds like
something heavier than a driver. I'd give them a call first and describe
your failure. Merry Christmas to all from N5PS.
