I have an AH-2 and Controller.  Is there any advantage to be found in using
the AH-3 ATU with the AH-2 Controller on the older rigs over the AH-2
ATU/Controller?

That's just an academic question.  I might come across and AH-3 someday.

Of course if one has the AH-3, by all means use it...with the AH-2 head on
the older ICOM rigs.

Yep, thats about it. There are some subtle changes with in, mostly firmware
I seem to remember.
