Hi Mac,

Indeed; I did not mention that, as it seems so obvious. But we have been
deceived before...

The same applies to the spectrum analyser, whose front end is not happy with
anything much over 0 to +10 dBm.

Assuming the person who uses such a receiver for this task has its input
hooked to a 50 Ohm dummy load and  NOT  to the 7000's output!!!

Hi Larry,

I would suggest checking the carrier/sideband amplitude relationship at 25W
carrier output with a spectrum analyser with 300 or 100 Hz RBW. An
IC-756Pro-series radio, IC-7800 or IC-781 will do as an alternative
measuring instrument.

If the peak sideband amplitude is 6 dB below the carrier on voice peaks, the
radio is generating a properly-modulated AM signal.
