May I add to Adam's observation of the IC-756P series?

I have an old one, an IC-756Pro S/N 1002 plus Heil HC-4 head set. As far as I am
concerned it works great!

One night on 75, I was tuning around, watching the spectrum looking for a signal.
There was this odd looking (at least to me) big bump on the scope. I tuned there,
could not understand, then pushed the AM button. Wow, great sound! He was
calling CQ. I responded. He returned with a long discourse on what he was
operating, plus accolades on my signal. I gave him a signal report along with my
QTH. He then responded with more info on AM quality etc and stating that I had a
very good signal. What was I operating? I told him, IC 756P with a Heil head set
(not gold, just standard). The next transmission he had to go to do something.

I guess that my call sign was spread amongst the AMers as whenever I answered a
CQ on that frequency I never made a contact.

So from that experience, I think that the AM on the 756P is good.
