[ICOM] 706

You should have seen the heckling and intentional QRM I had several times
when I operated from a spare MRU-35 (ITT/Mackay 1 kW USB transmitter) from a
ship during the 1980s. I wanted to speak to my father on 75 meters, so I
had to use USB as all commercial SSB equipment is USB on ships.
The QRM became so heavy that we had to quit. I had attempted to have a
phone patch as it was Christmas Eve and I wanted to wish my four children
Merry Christmas.
Not to be! Hams can be strong willed and single minded it seems. This
fellow Paul has had to endure too much to even ask a simple question.
A question is a question. Who cares why he wanted to use USB, he could if
he wanted to, also many RTTY programs use USB to set the correct shift on
teletype.
I am very disappointed with the behavior of some on this list.
Perhaps he wished to lock oscillators with another '706 and transmit
Independant Side Band (ISB) for simultaneous SSTV and audio narration - SSTV
on on USB and narration on LSB.
Next we will have "mode police", it seems.
BTW, I use USB on 40 meters for CW with MixW.

Thank you Adam for your explanation why I want 7296
USB!
