John,

The reason why in the IC-718 is you have to solder the filter in 
place. There are no eyelets to install the pins into. I have a filter 
for mine I bought at Dayton this year. I intend to stop by icom and 
pick up some eyelets, drill out the board and solder the eyelets in 
place then the filter should work like the rest just push in place. 
If it does not stay in place then I'll get a piece of closed cell 
foam, glue it to the radio case to hold the filter in place when installed.

I am sure eyelets is not the proper term buts its all I can think of 
this evening.
