Hello Adam and thanks for your reply. I know what you're telling me, that's
why I put the reference to Icoms specs in my initial posing.
What I really mean is..... what happens in the 'real world'.
For example, my AH-4 won't tune on 160 metres according to Icoms literature.
The fact of the matter is it works there very well with the right radiator
connected to it.
The marine radios specified to match the AT series tuners won't tell the
thing to tune on 6 metres. The same way my old 706 mk1 won't tell the AH-3
to tune on 6 metres either.
What I am getting at is what really happens with the suitable radiator and
suitable transceiver telling the tuner what to do. What have people who own
these other pieces of equipment discovered in practice?
The only Icom tuner I posses is the AH-4 so that is the extent on my
knowledge base. I want to aquire more tuners for other jobs and want to
know which ones will suit me. Just because the AH-4 is the current model
doesn't necessarily mean it is the unit for the job..
Regards,
Des.
