I had an Icom 230 from 1982-1984 so, my first 2 meter FM mobile rig. Yes it was a great receiver, and made some nice 2 meter FM tropo contacts on it-like from Iowa to Michigan and Indiana-using either a 5 element beam or a 5/8 wave mag mount in the rain gutter. THis rig will always hold a soft spot in my heart since it got me started in VHF dxing.
