If you want .25 uV sensitivity over broad band,
you WILL get intermod. Wideband coverage
seems to be what MOST buyers want. If you
want really tight in a local area, go find an IC-20
or IC-22 crystal controlled rig. Buy crystals, buy
a tone encoder/decoder, no scan, no DTMF
mic, etc.
For god's sake learn to use the attenuator instead
of running the damned thing wide open all the time.
SHEESH. Appliance operators!!!
Yayhoo and Kenmore are all the same.

Hello,
Here are some eHam reviews of the 2720:
---------------------------------------
Reviews: 14 Average rating: 2.4/5
"Disastrous intermod problem. OK in rural areas but in big cities almost
useless."
"POS - Junk. Don't waste your good hard earned money! Intermod out the
@#&+........."
"Wish I'd found more reviews on this rig before I bought it. I live in the
sticks and i'm bothered by a police transmitter 15 miles away. The intermod
makes this radio nearly unusable,, shame on you ICOM!"
"Oh this rig i'm sure would be good if you lived in the desert. It suffers
extreme intermod. very poor rejection ,if any."
"What more can I say. I like every thing about this radio except that the
intermod/imaging that you hear makes the radio unusable, bought a 2 meter
intermod filter, Par and it helped. I DO NOT believe that anyone should have
to spend money on filters that should be IN THE RADIO!!."
"My 2720 also has the famed intermod many have complained about. And I'm not
talking a little intermod, it's a lot! I realize any amateur widebanded
radio is going to have moments where it suffers a bit of intermod but this
thing goes on and on with it. In fact, I can't drive anywhere without
receiving intermod at least half the time the thing is on!
My opinion is such that Icom should recall this model and repair the
intermod issue. I'm sure they won't though, and those of us that purchased
them will remember that. The radio has some great features but you'd better
beware of the SEVERE intermod problem if your considering this model."
