[ICOM] Icom HF to AEA HamLink

John,

I worked at AEA for 6 months middle 1994 to Jan 1995. As I remember the
HamLink would work with most all Icom's rigs of that era. I would set up
the 718 to what ever address the HamLink needs should work fine.
As I remember the baud rate was 1200 baud default as that is what Icom was
and still is so far as I know. Remember if the HamLink is set for the 735
that is 4 bit data and is not compatible with any other Icom rig unless you
go into the CI-V setting and change to work as an IC-731, Japanese version
of the IC-735. Every other icom rig supports 5 bit data and that want you
want to use.
When Timewave purchased the bulk of the AEA product line I don't think they
picked up HamLink. That product died with the sale so far as I know but you
could inquire Timewave about that.

The HamLink was originally designed for a couple of enterprising Seattle
area local amateurs and the company they started was acquired by AEA in
1992 or 1993 for the product line.
