[ICOM] Questions for Icom PW1 Users

Hi Harry,

That helps a great deal, sounds exactly like the way my unit behaves.

So it sounds like I have nothing really wrong with it, just a case of the
instruction manual not being very clear.

Appreciate your time and reply.

Bruce,

I have the later version of the PW1 (version that does not require the unit
to be on to use the exciter barefoot, but does allow for band tracking and
antenna selection). Currently used the PW1 with a 775dsp.

With the PW1 "off" its antenna tuner does not engage and the PW1 tuner's LED
does not go on if you push the tuner button.

With the PW1 "on" and the amp not engaged, the tuner LED will light but not
tune. As someone mentioned the PW1's tuner may appear to be tuning as it
probably has a preset on that portion of the band and specific antenna from
previous use.

Regading the jumper setting on the PW1 for power. I did this once when using
a non-Icom exciter. Did not see any real advantage in doing so. In the end
I just took the 13.8 volts (I think) from the ACC DIN socket on the back of
the amp. Worked just fine.

Hope this helps.
