Roger,
I don't know much about the IBS-1 as I have never seen one but I did a
google search and came up with the operators manual The manual states it
operates either 1200 or 9600 baud as you said but also states it is jumped
for 9600 baud as a default. I would set up the 756ProIII to 9600 baud only.
Make sure you are using MONO cables not Stereo types as the CI-V system is
built around two conductor cables.
The IBS-1 wants you to have the transceive mode enabled in the Icom, look
for that in the set mode. The IBS-1 looks for what the Icom is spewing out
as you turn the tuning dial, if the 756ProIII is not in transceive mode the
IBS-1 will just sit on 160 meters. generally its a good idea to get the
IBS-1 and radio working then introduce the software control.
The manual also says a band change from software may not cause the IBS-1 to
update so then you have to just give the tuning knob a tweak to get it to
do so.
