[ICOM] Questions for Icom PW1 Users

I would have expected someone to answer by now but I'll offer a few
suggestions based on what I see with mine.

First, you do have the later PW-1 that lets the unit function as an antenna
switch even with the power off? Mine is the later version - serial #1317,
not sure what number they changed at.

I supply +12 v to the PW-1 thru the ACC 1 DIN plug. I am not using the
"jumper 2" method as in the manual. With this ext 12 v, then the leds on
the controller stay on regardless of main PW-1 power setting or the exciter,
and it functions as a band select and antenna switch. The tuner does not
function if the PW-1 main power is off, in my case. But with the PW-1 on
but the AMP function off it does seem to operate OK - the light blinks and
stays on - unlike yours. The PW-1 will likely tune within the current band
to something previously stored in memory, but that's a preset thing not
really "tuning". Like you, I doubt the statement about generating its own
RF.....
