Hello and thanks for reading this message.

I'm confused, after reading the manual and speaking to Icom's normally
excellent tech support, I have a few questions on this fine amp.

First, I am using the PW1 with my Icom 765, seems like a nice match.

1) In the manual Icom states that the PW1 antenna tuner will function with
the PW1 main power off, I assume that you mean the exciter is on but the
main power to the PW1 is switched off, right?
If so, then my antenna tuner will not function when I press the button for
more than 2 seconds - as noted in the manual.
With the 765 on, the LEDs for the antenna input and exciter input work fine,
and I can switch between the inputs, but pressing the Tuner button has no
effect with the Main power switch off on the PW1.
If I turn off the 765, the PW1 LEDs mentioned above turn off and the input
switching function no longer works.

Has anyone tried using the internal power supply by setting the PW1 dip
switch?
The PW1 manual outlines the procedure, wondering if that is just for
non-Icom exciters.

2) Also noted that the tuner function does not seem to work when I have the
PW1 power on but the amp off.
If I have the PW1 main power switch on and then press the tuner button, the
tuner light flashes like it is trying to tune, but then goes out.
Kevin, the tech support rep at Icom told me that the PW1 "generates its own
RF for tuning" and the PW1 does not even have to be connected to a radio for
the tuner to work. - This sounds odd to me.
If I try the same thing with 765's the transmit switch on in RTTY or CW, the
unit will tune and the tuner light will stay on.
Is this correct?

Sorry to ask what may seem such simple questions, but I am not certain who
to believe on this one.

Tnx!
