David,
I just saw this wonderful product - it is a Amplifier Sequencer, it turns
off any U/VHF mast mounted preamps, closes the amplier relays (it has a high
enough rating on the buffer switch to handle most (if not all) old
amplifiers), then it delays by 10 ms (adjustable) the signal to the
transmitter from PTT (push-to-talk) line or the CW key. It can be put in
between a paddle OR a hand key. It can be used for RTTY and will eliminate
hot switching.
I just ordered one because I needed a buffer switching unit to switch my old
National NCL-2000 amplifier. This unit supplies "quasi-QSK" to the old
amplifier - better than VOX not as good as PIN diodes.
For the price I think it is worth it. Just about $40.00 - shipping is world
wide from Italy, USA and Brazil, circuit boards, and also chassis boxes.
The advertisement is in June QST p. 150.
There is much more information on the web - everything that could be
imagined - except the circuit diagram - and this is because the device is
patent pending.
Here is the web page:
http://netcertus.com/cgi-bin/netc/net.cgi?page=ampsequencer
There are links on the left side of each page showing what is on the web
site.
At the bottom is: Contact Us.
If you click this, you will be taken to a web page where you can ask for
more information, or ask about ordering one of these units.
I got a very prompt response.

When using either the 775 or 765 with a Collins 30L-1 and other linears with
a high current changeover relay, is it necessary to use an external relay
device?
I have heard that some of the newer transceivers will not tolerate the
current in some of the older amplifiers.
Thank you
