Hello all,
I am well on the way to getting my second IC-735 up to standard. It must
have had a hard life but I have now cleaned it up, replaced the dial
bulbs and fitted new black M3 pan head screws to the case. It's looking
much better.
I would like to do a full alignment of the TX and RX. I feel that a
previous owner has had a bit of a 'tinker' and the RX filters, such as
the difference between USB and LSB are not as good as on my original
IC-735. I consider that I am capable of this procedure, having built and
aligned an Elecraft K2 transceiver without any problems.
Just one question. In the Service Manual, under receiver alignment, it
specifically warns against alignment of L65/L66/L67/L68 & L15/L16. I see
that these items are close to a filter although I must admit I haven't
had time to browse the circuit diagram fully. Also, from what I can
tell, alignment of these inductors is not covered anywhere else in the
manual. This could be a slight problem if a previous owner had decided
to give them a 'tweak'.
Can anyone give a 'heads-up' on alignment in this area or point to some
alignment details, other than the Icom Service Manual.
Many thanks,
Ken. G3WCS.
