Hello Lou and others.
Some answers to your questions. Firstly, the internal 6 cell pack you
discovered is original and they were all originally nicads so yours will be
also if it hasn't been changed. Secondly, the internal li-ion cell is
located on the PCB behind the keypad from memory. If this discharges just
place the R1 on charge for a while and it should return to life.
I had this same thing happen to me not long ago. This occurrence is also
mentioned in the owners manual and the necessary charging requirement to get
the unit going again.
