Hi Duane,
The IC-2KL and AT-500 will work with a Kenwood exciter, except for the
automatic bandswitching function which requires the Icom band-selection
voltage signal.
Cheers for now, 73,

Subject: [ICOM] Re Icom 2KL and AT-500
I was contacted by a blind Ham who would like to purchase a fully
operational Icom 2KL with power supply and the matching AT-500 automatic
tuner. Now he is using a Kenwood, is it still doable? He would like 'decent'
cosmetics, but insists that all pieces are in excellent electrical condition
and working properly. manuals, original or a copy, will be needed. however,
they can be
gotten elsewhere if the seller does not have them.
This Ham is a serious buyer, not interested in wasting anyone's time, or
having
his wasted either.
If someone on the Icom list, or someone else, has the equipment and is
interested in selling it, please have them contact me. i will forward all
responses direct to the interested buyer. he will contact them from that
point
on.
