And many may be rushing out to buy a MKIIG once they
become discontinued, because if we look at history,
here is what may happen with the Icom 7000 in its
first couple of years:

The transmitter just dies (Icom 746PRO)
Self-oscillation which kills the finals (Yaesu FT100D)
RF feedback problems (Yaesu FT857)
RF feedback problems coupled with terrible 6 meter
performance (Yaesu FT897)

And those are just the onces that quickly come to
mind.  Many people don't want to shell out bucks to
become a field tester for the manufacturers.
