Hi Marty,
With the wide-range element and the WIDE TOBW setting in the Pro3, your
transmitted AF response will be 100 Hz to 2.8 kHz. You can adjust the low
and high ends of the transmitted AF response separately, for each of the
three TOBW selections WIDE, MID and NAR.
You will make more effective use of your transmit power under weak-signal
conditions by setting the AF response to 300 Hz - 2.4 kHz, and using the
HC-5 element.
Cheers for now, 73,
Adam VA7OJ/AB4OJ

Subject: [ICOM] Mikes
Hello Larry,
I know that you didn't include the Heil Goldline mike in your thoughts, but
I have had all three and get numerous unsolicited audio reports on my Icom
756 Pro III, but also on the Pro and the Pro II. I use the wide element on
the mike and wide compression on the Pro. I believe that is about 300-2100
cycles, but I could be off a little on the response range. If you are using
any of the Pro series, they are not like the older lineage radios and do not
require a pre-amp as it is already in the mikes circuit. Just some food for
thought. 73'es to all, and g.b.
KInd regards,
Marty, W3QK
