[ICOM] SM-20 vs. SM-6

Main difference is that the SM 20 is a real mike not a toy like the SM 6. It
is worth every penny they cost.
I did some tests a couple of years back using some "after market" mike
elements and based on "on the air tests" the majority of people said the
"after market" ones sounded like junk, tinny like a Ten Tec etc.
These are my findings, I am sure yours will be different..

I know about the up/down function of the SM-20, but I
am interested in the basic mike aspect. In other
words, why would I need to pay twice as much for the
SM-20?
