Last I knew Doug you are correct. A pleasure vessel can do most anything
with the marine ssb, operate amateur or marine. A vessel for hire is where
you need two stations to operate on the Marine SSB and Amateur radio bands
due to SOLAS. For those who don't know SOLAS is Safety Of Life At Sea. Of
course Great Lakes and inland waterway rules are different.
