Hi Duane. My name is Rick Robinson, formerly K8DXN. If my name sounds
familiar , it is. I worked with you and your grandson on the speech
level adjustment for a 746 Pro or something similar. Ok here goes.
1. Front of radio facing you, top side up, with cover removed.
2. Place your left index finger on the top left corner of the radio and
move it to the right along the front edge of the face of the radio.
3. When you feel a dip in the front panel stop there. Move your finger
straight into the radio and down to the main board. It's right in the
very front. If you feel three stiff ribbon cables you have gone too far
to the right.
4. You will feel a silky cloth square with a rough part to the right
side of it. This is the speech board.
5.It will be mounted on a piece of sticky foam rubber. The actual
connector is very small and is on the back right corner of this board.
This is where you will need to concentrate your grip on the unit. I
tried mine and the connector pops loose easily.
6. The foam might be the tricky part to get loose. You must disconnect
the connector before you pull the foam away. You will feel the connector
pop loose.
Good luck and be careful. If you need any further assistance you may
call me at 304-552-0853 until 10 pm. Take care, Rick. W8ZT
