[ICOM] Ic-781 problem

Hi Sam,

This sounds as if the DDS is out of alignment, and is unlocking. Have you
checked to see whether the problem occurs on both A and B VFO's?

There is an alignment procedure in the service manual, but you will need an
extender kit to access the PLL boards. The service manual is downloadable on
http://www.qsl.net/icom/manuals.html You can check the error voltage with an
oscilloscope or a good DMM.

Cheers for now, 73,
Adam VA7OJ/AB4OJ

Subject: [ICOM] Ic-781 problem

My IC-781 is dead on about the last 4 kc's of each band..There is something
like this described on the Icom repair page..

I haven't really read all the available articles but wonder if anyone has
had the same problem and can save me some time and effort in fixing the
problem ??

The name is different but it's something about adjusting the phase lock loop
??

I am gonna start on this problem next week and any help would be greatly
appreciated...special test equipment needed ??

Thanks as always...any and all input is appreciated..

I love this radio...

Life is good..

Sam
