[ICOM] IC-706 Mobile Noise Question

I've an original IC-706 which I sometimes use with the remote mounting

kit in the van.  I've noticed that when I turn the tuning control or 

any other knob I hear a static as if it was a noisy pot.  This noise

does not happen when the remote cord is not used. 

This noise is loudest on those bands for which I have a resonant antenna.

I'd be grateful for any help.
