[ICOM] Mobile Mount?

Hello:
       I am trying to mount a small rig in my Honda Civic and there is no good place to put it under the dash!  I am looking at a Motorola gooseneck type mount that can be bolted to the floor or transmission tunnel, the problem is it is only 8" long. Anyone else run into trouble or have some ideas on what to use?  I am sure the Motorola mount  is top quality and costs about $28.
