[ICOM] IC-701 query

Well, it seems that suggestions provided to me last week did allow me to
solve a majority of my instability problems in my recently purchased
IC-701 but a few issues remain.
First, there remains some instability when the rig is cold...when I say
cold I mean an ambient temperature of 50 degrees Fahrenheit or colder. I
suspect that there may be a reference oscillator that is unhappy and
would like to know if anyone on the list has solved such a problem.
Unfortunately my shack is in the garage and although the room I built is
insulated it still gets pretty chilly on cold nights.
Second, during yesterday's NAQP I was having a run on 40 and the rig
stopped putting out RF. The internal cooling fan never did come on and I
suspect thermal shut-down since it did come back to life after I
temporarily started using a second rig. Is this a known problem on the '701?
Third, I think there must be a memory battery somewhere in the rig but
I've yet to locate it, even after pulling the synthesizer board and
watching carefully for such a battery. Unless it is in a configuration
that I don't recognize...I was really looking for something like the
soldered-in CMOS batteries in old laptop computers. Can anyone tell me
what the physical configuration of the battery might be and what voltage
is nominal in that battery?
All of these problems would be made significantly simpler if I had a
full schematic. Anyone have one either scanned or in .pdf?
I've only owned the 6 and 2 meter siblings to this rig and was surprised
how good it is compared to rigs by other manufacturers of a similar
vintage. It sure would be nice to solve my remaining problems!
Thanks, in advance, and 73,
Jack, AE7DX
