There was a third mod to solder the yellow wire to a different point for
switching. I did it long ago and don't remember the specifics.
Des, I would suggest you do your own research if the information provided
here about pre-amp and fan noise was not good enough. Google has a very
good search engine, and mods.dk has a very comprehensive list of ICOM mods
too. I am sure your answer is out there. As often happens, your thread was
hijacked in a direction you did not intend. This usually indicated that the
information you seek isn't readily available, or someone would have posted
it right away. Good luck in your research.
