[ICOM] Question about the original 706

   Hello all,

   I have a 706Mk2G which I am happy with and am used too.  I am thinking about
   the first model of 706 as a spare/second rig for in the shack.  What were
   the first model 706's like when they were produced.  I have heard there were
   some issues that had to be overcome with modifications to remedy the
   problems.

   Can someone who knows the original 706 faults and deficiencies give me a
   summary of them and I will keep them in mind when looking at the second hand
   unit I am considering.  It is possible that this unit has had the fixes done
   already but I'm not sure at this stage.

I'd advise against this, since the controls changed enough between the
original and the MKII models to be VERY confusing.
But you might no have any problem with that.
