[ICOM] Best antenna for 706 mobile?

Concerning the HS 1800: it's loading coil has a diameter of 1.7 inch and
resulting gain on 80 meter approx. -28 dB
Compare that to the -9 dB on the HiQ 5-80.
Is the aluminium mast of the HS1800 still equipped with the bronze insert
piece, causing huge corrosion? What is the current experience with the coil
contactor spring of the HS1800?
