[ICOM] AT-130 marine antenna tuners

Hello Vladimir,

While not having experience with the AT-130 model (my experience is with
the AH-4) I would seriously implement what you have suggested. As large
a wire antenna as possible matched with the AT-130. Apart from the
power limitation of 100 watts or so which means that you can't use an
amplifier, they match and allow the wire to radiate well.

The At-130 is more commercial and ruggedised than the AH-4. With
heavier duty relays and other components and also the PCB tracks are
noticeably heavier duty as well. Also, Icom technicians over here in VK
have told me that the AH (ham) series are not designed for the heavier
duty usage. Such things as continuos duty data etc which the marine and
other commercial users demand of them.

If you already have two of them, one would certainly do a good job with
a large piece of wire and be simple to implement. Also, The frequency
range of the tuners is not strictly as quoted in the instructions or
brochure either. An AT-130 would certainly tune from 160 - 6m with a
suitable radiator connected to it. If the transceiver can initiate the
tune sequence, the tuner will try and match it.

Hope this bit of information is helpful to you.

Best regards,

Des - VK3DMP.
