Hello Pat,
Yes it seems you can buy the catch. It's easy to repair but just beware that there should be a little spring that fits on a spigot inside. Shake the front panel vigorously to see if the spring has come loose and floating around inside the electonics. If you hear a rattle - dig deeper until you find it. If it is gone - you can do some smarts with an old ballpoint pen spring but its diameter will be bigger. Just as easy to buy some springs just in case.
Fixed one for a fiend recently doing the ballpoint pen trick as I had not looked inside the head unit before.
Cheers,
Simon,
ZL1SWW.

A little bad luck and a short fall has broken the little plastic catch
that locks the face plate of my 706mk2 to the transceiver body. Nothing
else was damaged.
Does anyone know if this piece is available as a separate part from the
front bezel? It does show in the parts list but that is not always the
same as being available.
Also, if you have replaced this catch, does an unbroken catch just snap
back into place?
