Dave, Thanks for your email. I really need help
getting this thing set up. I have unlimited long
distance and might telephone you if you don't mind
walking me tthrough this nightmare.

My interface is a J.COM TX 1 which is supposed to be a
CT-17 clone or "funtionally" the equivalent of the
CT-17. It is powered by the computer through the port
I think and has a 1/8 inch plug to go into the Icom.
I have one Icom 718 and two Icom 706 MKIIGs.

My wife, Barbara, K5MOL, and I spend springs and
summers in Alaska and the propagation out of Alaska to
the Southern States is next to NIL. I want to set my
fixed station here in Louisiana up as a remote base
being controlled remotely from Alaska over the
internet.

Needles to say, I am not super computer literate and
being 67 years old, it is kinda late for me to become
so. The Japanese equipment manuals don't tell a real
"Redneck" a lot either.

Thanks in advance for all assistance. If you don't
mind, send me your twelephone number and let me know
if you will be available later in the evenings. I am
going to watch the LSU/Georgia football game which
starts at 5:00 P.M. Central time. 73, John, K5PGW

If I can just get the computer and transceiver talking
to each other, I think I will have accomplished a lot.
