Hi Jim -- I have a weird situation with my Grandson's IC2100 which I can
compare with my IC2100.
1. His "Bad IC2100" - the HM98 mic it came with will not key the
transmitter anymore. The HM133 mic that came with with my IC2100 keys it
fine and modulates fine.
2. The HM98 mic which will not key the "bad IC2100" will key my IC2100 fine
and modulates fine.
3. Both rigs key fine if you short the normal PTT line to ground.
4. I made up a cable so I could measure the open circuit voltage from the
mic plug on both rigs .Both rigs measure the same open circuit voltage on
every line within a tenth of a volt.
5. Like yours , the buttons appear to work , just won't key - I did not do
an intensive check of every function.
Have not found anyone who has any idea what is going on here - but see
little point in taking it to a ICOM service place because the answer will be
obvious I suspect - Bad Mic . But how come it works ok on another 2100 ????
Oh Well -- Rgds-- Hank - K7HP
