You know - normally I grin at this stuff and press delete. But I am gunna
stick my neck out here, and hope Dick don't lop it off.
Here is what I see.
1. They passed the test. Note... It doesn't matter that they didn't pass
the same test you did. It doesn't matter that they don't measure up to your
"STANDARD" whatever that might be. I probably don't measure up either. The
fact remains that THEY PASSED THE TEST!
2. Shameful? Why - because they are VEs? So let me see. They passed the
test, and volunteered to "GIVE SOMETHING BACK" to ham radio by helping
others. I am both a VE and an instructor. I have several successful
students (Whom I did not test) to my name. Guess this is shameful too? If
I don't measure up, should my students turn in their licenses? I mean. I
guess I want to know this. Because I certainly don't know all there is to
know. But I stand in front of them every Friday night and do my best.
I passed the 20 wpm in 1990, just before deploying to another combat tour.
So whoopee-do. Does that make me an Extra-Classic? Or am I an Extra Lite
too, because I didn't get a license signed off by Marconi? Only my novice
and tech licenses were taken under the watchful steely eyed FCC examiners in
Landsthul Germany. Do they count alone, or do my exams taken under a VE
count to?
Sheesh people. The only shameful thing around here is how some people try
to make themselves look better by belittling others.
Sorry Dick. I am working tomorrow and Sunday mornings, and rebuilding a
power wheelchair for an 80 y/o lady tomorrow, and taking a hiking picnic
Sunday.... So I won't be here to gum it up much. Excuse my outburst please
- I can't help it. And now you all know why I like my dog better than I
like most people and I won't join QCWA.
ADAM - STOP GRINNING!!!!!
Mike. KD9KC.
Who couldn't possibly do 20 wpm today. And don't care if I measure up or
not.
