[SPAM?] [ICOM] New to the list

Hello Pete,

Of course the best thing to do is to NOT use the NB or NR when installing
your mobile set.

Mount the antenna as far away from the alternator as you can. Example - if
the alternator is on the "port" side of the engine, mount the antenna on the
"starboard" side of the stern of the truck or trunk of the car.

Then bond things to gether - exhaust pipes to ground, bond the doors, trunk
metal - get everything as "grounded" as possible.

Many times the "company" that you bought your car has a "Mobile Radio
Installation" guide - although mainly written for V/U HF and not HF - what
is good for V/UHF is good for HF but grounding and tying the car panels is
more important for HF.

Persistant noise can be located with a small AM/FM radio - first use AM
radio tuned to a vacant channel around 850 kHz using the built in ferrite
loop to find the noise source, then switch to a vacant FM channel and use
the telescoping antenna - you must be VERY close to use the FM radio - when
the antenna touches the problem component, you've found it. Obviously don't
touch battery terminals, or fan belts, fans or any moving parts.

Once this is done - your NB and NR can be used to eliminate "other" peoples
noise!

Subject: [SPAM?] [ICOM] New to the list

Hi.

I am new to the list and hopefully someone out there can help. I am looking
for A) mobile mount for an Icom 730 or B) an alternate mounting
method/homebrew mounting technique.

Also any experience with the IC-730 and how effective is the noise blanker
for ignition and other vehicle noise.

It will most likely be mounted it in a truck (yet to be purchased very
likely a Toyota Tacoma).

Thanks
Pete W6JFR
