Speaking of stats and radios they had a showing in Japan
and the way it looks the FT1000 series is about to be
replaced:

Wonder what Icom has up *their* sleeve?

I was thinking after looking at your numbers Adam of
getting just an Icom receiver for my 728 and running them
as separates instead of buying a whole new transmitter
that way I would get rid of some of the compromises of
putting all that into one box and just get a dedicated
receiver.

They are predicting the 1000 series is about to be
replaced with a new Yaesu 2000 series rig:

Replacement for the FT-1000 series??

Code may be taking a back seat for now,
but the pioneering spirit that put the code
there in the first place is out front of it all.
