[ICOM] 756 lines in display

Hi Paul,
The original IC-756 had a monochrome LCD display which was subject to
degradation over time. Blue lines would appear on the display; eventually,
the screen image would deteriorate sufficiently to require replacement of
the LCD module.
Some years ago, Panasonic (the original vendor) discontinued the LCD module.
Fortunately, Icom have been able to second-source from a Taiwanese supplier.
Here is a link to Don VK6HK's excellent page on this topic.

Paul,
There's no scope tube, there's an LCD display.
Older displays (made in Japan) will get blue lines eventually.
This process will proceed until the whole display is unreadable.
New second generation displays are available. Call or write Virgil Parker
from Icom UK.

This gentleman knows all about this subject.
Also check previous posts on the Icom reflector, on the yahoo IC756 group
and on the qsl.net/icom pages.
